A gentle, DBT-informed gratitude workbook for noticing the good things, keeping track of small joys, and finding things to appreciate even when you're having a difficult day.
About this downloadable gratitude journal PDF
Looking for a gratitude journal that feels a little more realistic than simply writing down three things you're grateful for every day?
The Gratitude Tracker is a printable PDF workbook designed to help you build a simple gratitude practice at your own pace.
It's been created with DBT and mental health recovery in mind, so there's no pressure to be relentlessly positive or pretend that difficult feelings aren't there.
Instead, the workbook focuses on noticing what is good, useful, comforting or meaningful alongside whatever else is going on.
You can use it as a daily gratitude diary, a weekly tracker, or simply dip into the prompts and reflection pages whenever you need somewhere to start.
10 digital pages of gratitude education, examples and trackers in one printable digital file

The daily diary card includes space for three things you're grateful for, why they mattered, a small joy from the day, a mindfulness pause and a gentle thought for yourself.
The weekly tracker gives you a simpler way to record one gratitude each day, alongside your mood and a mindfulness check-in, with a weekly reflection at the end.
Why I made this gratitude tracker
I like the idea of gratitude, but I don't love the pressure that can sometimes come with it.
If you're having a difficult day, being told to write down five things you're grateful for can feel a bit unrealistic. Sometimes you genuinely don't have five things.
Sometimes you have one. Sometimes it's something very small. And sometimes your gratitude is simply that you got through the day. That's allowed here.
The workbook is built around the idea that gratitude isn't about toxic positivity, minimising pain or forcing yourself to feel happy. It's about noticing something good without pretending that everything else is fine.
A gratitude diary with a DBT twist
The Gratitude Tracker connects gratitude practice with some familiar DBT ideas, including mindfulness, distress tolerance, emotion regulation and interpersonal effectiveness.
There's a particular focus on noticing small things that help you cope, recognising your own resilience and paying attention to positive moments without dismissing the difficult ones.
You can also track your mood before and after your daily gratitude practice, giving you the chance to notice whether there are any patterns over time.
No idea what to write?
There's an inspiration page for that. The Gratitude Inspiration Menu includes categories such as daily comforts, food and nourishment, relationships, recovery and growth, DBT and mindfulness, home and safety, nature, creativity and second chances.
There are also 30 gratitude prompts covering everything from small moments that made you smile to things you've survived, boundaries you're proud of, people who have supported you and tiny things that are going right.
Use it your way
There are no rules about how often you need to use this gratitude journal PDF. You could print the whole workbook and work through it. You could print individual pages whenever you need them. You could use the daily diary card every evening. You could stick to the weekly tracker if daily journaling feels like too much.
Or you could keep the prompts handy and use them whenever you get stuck.
The workbook is designed to be flexible, and you don't need to fill every page for it to be useful.
